  1. I like the presence of the pistols in the top and bottom shots. Not that far removed from the pictures of Civil War soldiers who are always holding Bowie knives and Colt pistols(usually borrowed props from the photograher). I wonder if either GI actually owned either weapon or just borrowed them for hte shot? I think the black GI has an Astra

  4. I'm 99% sure it's not a PPK. A PPK is a pretty small pistol (though the grip is decently sized) and unless that guy has really small hands that looks like a standard sized European .32 or .380 auto of hte time (comperable in size to the Colt issue autos of the same time). I'm making that guess on the caliber because those were VERY popular calibers in Europe at the time.
